Bill is Vice Chair of Swanson, Martin & Bell’s Intellectual Property Group and focuses his practice on solving the issues facing companies working with new media and emerging technologies. For his clients, Bill provides comprehensive transactional services, including experience counseling clients with issues related to corporate structure, licensing, intellectual property protection and financing. To date, Bill has helped his clients close over $25 million in financing. Bill also has extensive experience with litigation as a means of protecting his clients’ intellectual property. As a litigator, Bill has helped his clients resolve matters including trademark disputes, right of publicity claims, consumer fraud claims, class actions, breach of contract claims and trade secret misappropriation claims. Prior to joining the firm, Bill was COO and General Counsel for the financial technology start-up NextCapital. He also served as general counsel for Business Logic, where he oversaw all aspects of litigation against a former partner for misappropriation of his clients trade secrets. The case ultimately settled for $61million.
