About our workshop leaders:
Elizabeth Lukehart is the Associate Director of the Farley Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Northwestern University and a lecturer in the McCormick School of Engineering. She has a law degree from the Pritzker School of Law, as well as a master’s in journalism from Medill. She has practiced law in a boutique firm providing legal services for tech startup companies and has held a variety of positions in marketing and communications. Lukehart has worked extensively with clean tech and sustainability-focused startups and also has experience in the nonprofit and social enterprise sector.

Elizabeth Lukehart is particularly interested in guiding students through the customer discovery process and using lean startup methodology and human-centered design to complement each other. She is also deeply passionate about teaching students the value of storytelling in business. Drawing on her experience in journalism and creative writing, she teaches students how they can use narrative techniques to develop brands, communicate values, and effectively lead organizations.

As an avid supporter of the arts, Lukehart is also leading the initiative within the Farley Center to explore and grow opportunities at the intersection of the arts, entrepreneurship, and technology.

Heather Aranyi is a successful serial entrepreneur in creative industries and real estate, and is the Farley Center's inaugural Creative Entrepreneur in Residence. She is a master soloist, educator, choral conductor, consultant, professional cantor candidate, advisor, and mentor. Named by the Chicago Tribune as "one of the most sought after singers and conductors in Chicago," Professor Aranyi's dynamic skills and far-reaching experiences have brought her passion and expertise to dozens of individuals, schools, institutions, and organizations.

Currently, she is on staff at the Lyric Opera where she is both an artist and teacher-in-residence working with communities and schools in the creation and performance of original operas. Through her work with Aranyi Music Corporation she has mentored and expertly guided artists, attorneys, scientists, corporations, as well as professional and aspiring singers and performers. An astounding number of her protégés have gone on to achieve excellence and success in their chosen careers and fields of interest receiving international awards, scholarships, as well as media attention from National Public Radio and The Wall Street Journal. Professor Aranyi's skill-set incorporates interdisciplinary, hands-on, innovative approaches to assist her clients in becoming more confident, masterful, and prosperous.



About JEC:

JEC is a student-run nonprofit organization that exposes teens to the fields of business and economics. Members receive exclusive invitations to business events and are given special consideration for internships, among other benefits. In addition, our members are given a chance to network with entrepreneurs, business executives, and their peers from high schools all over Chicago.
