Panelists will share tips and tools on how to prepare budgets and how to make effective cuts to fit your budget.

CRYSTAL BARNES, PRODUCER, WRITER, DIRECTOR IMDB

A twenty-year veteran in the film industry as a producer, writer and actor. As Executive Producer of Ark Productions, she has produced several projects and has also served on production teams for various independent video and film projects throughout Chicago. Her directorial debut, The Law of Moises (thelawofmoises.com), a family adventure film enjoyed a theatrical run in February 2019 and will be available online this coming summer 2019. She is currently working on a Web Series to be released in the winter of 2019.

MELISSA OSTRANDER, PRODUCER

Melissa started in the film industry with the award nominated short film, The Greasy Plate.  Over the past 10 years she has collaborated on a number of projects with Crystal and  is excited to  lend her hand on The Law of Moises and Churched.

DAVID JOHNSON, FILMMAKER

David W. Johnson has been an award winning actor and film maker for over 25 years. He has successfully overseen the development of several websites, commercials, music videos, concert recordings, television broadcasts, and film projects. Their first movie, Severed Ties, garnered national and international distribution. His current project, Paradigm Grey, is an anthology project created by Chris Adams of Impakt Studio.... Paradigm Grey is a collection of short films in the genre of sci-fi and horror, by all black producers and directors.... KAMELYA ALEXAN, FILMMAKER

Born in Tehran, Iran, Kamelya Alexan moved to Chicago when she was five-years-old, where she was raised. Kamelya has worked on and completed over 300 projects including documentaries, shorts, music videos, and feature films such as The Dark Knight and Batman vs. Superman. Her most recent film, Before the Fall, won Best Narrative Short at the Widescreen Film Festival and is currently on a festival run throughout the United States. She is currently working at Periscope Post and Audio as the Head of Business development and marketing, Kamelya spends her time finding new clients and pushing the “create extraordinary” theory. Being the only post house that focuses on independent features and network TV in Chicago, Periscope supports everything from small independent work to successful Fox shows (Empire). When not working on film, Kamelya invests in real-estate, develops mobile applications, and is constantly looking for the next big business venture.
