Chicago Stories: The Mayor’s Podcast

Politicians are increasingly entering the world of podcasting. Come hear from City of Chicago Digital Director Grace Cheung as she shares more about Mayor Emanuel’s foray into podcasting, “Chicago Stories.” Each week, the Mayor invites a Chicagoan or special guest to City Hall to share his or her Chicago Story. Recent guests have included Apple CEO Tim Cook, Nobel Prize in Economics winner Richard Thaler, Chef Graham Elliot, David Axelrod, and Claude Lamb, a formerly homeless Veteran.

About Grace Cheung:

Grace Cheung is the City of Chicago’s Digital Director, leading digital and social media strategy for the Office of Mayor Rahm Emanuel. Grace produces Mayor Emanuel’s weekly podcast, “Chicago Stories,” which launched in June 2017. Previously she worked for New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo as the Director of Digital Communications and the City of New York as the “Made in NY” Media Center Liaison. She ran @nycgov, the City of New York's official social media channels, and @nycmayorsoffice and helped to redesign NYC.gov. Prior to that, Grace was Senior Marketing Manager at New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC), focusing on digital marketing during the Bloomberg Administration.

Before working in government, Grace was communications manager at the International Rescue Committee and the Women’s Refugee Commission, an advocacy NGO working to improve the lives of refugee women, children and youth. She was also a journalist for the International Herald Tribune-ThaiDay, an English-language daily newspaper in Bangkok, Thailand, and the Independent Press Association-New York representing ethnic and independent media.
