CARLOS VILLALOBOS (aka CJ Villa) - has become quite a multi-faceted musician writing and producing music for rock and pop to scoring films and commercials to recording his own material on his own record label, Alistar Records. He is a multi-talented musician, artist, producer, songwriter and mixer who also sings, plays guitars, keyboards, drums, and bass on all of his music from his private recording studio.
He has also written & performed music underscores for several tv shows and movies. Carlos' first entry into the tv/film music world was when he wrote, produced, performed and mixed the theme song, “Let Me Be The One” for the show Baywatch Hawaii, as well as the original music for the television series in 2000/2001. He has written additional music for the HBO show, Sex & The City, and has featured music on various movie trailers (see Discography). He continues to write and produce original music for all media, and is regularly tapped to perform, write and/or produce demos for artists and publishers while frequently contributing music to television shows including CSI:NY, Criminal Minds, Anthony Bourdaine: No Reservations, How I Met Your Mother, Dexter, Smallville, American Idol, Face Off, Betrayal, Crisis, Empire, among others.
He is currently working in Chicago on the show EMPIRE and continues to live and work in Chicago and Los Angeles writing and producing for recording artists.
Thomas Miller
Thomas Miller is the director of DePaul's Sound Recording Technology program. He is a twenty-year veteran of the Chicago recording industry with credits that range from The Blues Brothers to Placido Domingo. His interest in recording and sound transformation found a compatible technology in 1985 with the development of the NED Synclavier, and he began programming sound design for albums and commercials. An avid creator and collector of sounds, Miller created the Universal Sound Library, a timbre library for the Synclavier that was marketed worldwide. His fascination with timbral evolution, surround sound, and multimedia has led him to compose electroacoustic works for electronics, percussion, processed voices and projected images. Miller is a graduate of the University of Iowa and DePaul University with degrees in composition
Jacob Smith
Jacob Smith is founder and director of the Master of Arts in Sound Arts and Industries, and professor in the Department of Radio/Television/Film at Northwestern University. He is the author of Vocal Tracks: Performance and Sound Media(University of California Press 2008); Spoken Word: Postwar American Phonograph Cultures(University of California Press 2011); The Thrill Makers: Celebrity, Masculinity, and Stunt Performance(University of California Press 2012); and Eco-Sonic Media (University of California Press, 2015). He writes and teaches about the cultural history of media, with a focus on sound and performance.
Elliot Callighan
Composer and Sound Designer for Media/Audio Implementation. His accomplishments include:
-Scoring over 60 films, documentaries, animations and video games.
-Scoring commercials, corporate videos and contributing music for United Airlines, The Chicago Advertising Federation, GMC, The Godrej Group, Chevrolet Motors and The Goodman Theatre.
